Revamped Costumes

After bandlaunching some costumes are loved and desired, and some costumes get responses like "Why dat look so? Why they add that piece? It wouldve been better without it!" So in an effort to appease Masqueraders, and of course sell costumes bands revamp troubled costumes in an attempt to make them more aesthetically pleasing to the public. In recent weeks we have seen some of the Caribana bands doing some revamping.

Carnival Nationz has revamped "Treasure Island" by making a few changes to the bra. They have taken the black netting off, and added other adornments. It seems a number of persons did not like the mesh/net that had previously adorned the bra. The new bra does look nice, but I guess I understood the net as giving the "island" feel. Although when I look at the costume I still don't think "Treasure Island". Pictured above is the costume previewed at bandlaunching. I am unable to pull a picture of the revamped costume from their website, but you can go take a look for yourself www.carnivalnationz.com and view the "Treasure Island" section.

Toronto Revellers has also done some revamping of the "Kemet" costume. Comments on this costume after bandlaunching were such as "looks undone and messy". I guess Revellers listened to masqueraders and made an effort to make the costume more pleasing. The new costume still does nothing for me, but definitely is an improvement from the previous. Haaaaaate the headpiece though.

Thank God, Toronto Revellers listen to their customes. I do agree with Caribanavirgin. I haaate the headpiece of Kemet, and whats up with the extra long beads on the bra and the belt. Please that is so 1990's, please where is the designer's creativity. Come on guys. I love Will Morton costumes. The design is beautiful.

As for Carnival Nationz, thank God they revamp Treasure Island costume. I was not feeling it at all. The Anne Bonney costume need to revamp also. I am not feeling the fushia that flows from the side of the belt. The color of fabric, should be a bit more bright. Section Leader Bryce, try and get a more electrifying fushia color. I bet it will stand out more when it hits the sun come Caribana Day.

Carnival Nationz word of advice, please have a very good opening presentation for your band. Something fabalous That is what killed you guys last year. Toront Revellers had a excellent opening presentation of the band.
